Description:
Been working on this for a few days now...

For my taste it is still too bright, but it could work. I'm not entirely over the moon about this in general though, but it's something. Some parts may look similar to spot's recent redesign, but that's intentional, as these parts work really well. The boxes/modules themselves definitely need some more work, but it is just a mockup after all. Also, the "my area" looks a bit weird, but I've run out of time/ideas/motivation, I just wanted to show you what I've got so far.

Maybe more later.

    That sir, is fucking sexy.

The only thing I would change is getting that menu up top centered in with the rest of the layout. Otherwise me likey the shiney sexy.

      Thank you, good sir.

Good thinking about the top menu. I have a feeling though that having it centered makes it lose prominence. However, having it left-aligned makes it look unbalanced. But, since I'm not happy with the "My Menu" bit, I'll try moving that up, maybe that works..

I don't think it's the alignment that's off about the nav bar, I think it's the fact that it's totally and completely disconnected from anything. The side or top of the page, background or header module (like it was on the last version of the site), etc.

I'm glad I re-read this part of the discussion, because at first I thought that it was suggested that you just flat CENTER the thing, and I was going to be all like "WOAH WAIT ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND?!" and then proceed to give you a litany of opinion on why that would be so wrong.

Yes, it's disconnected from the main area, that's true. But it's still more visible than the current dropdown menu. Plus, it uses the same graphical elements as the rest of the page, so..

However, I'll see what I can do if I find a bit of free time. Thanks for the though!

Possibly move the My Menu option to the right side of that bar to help balance out the menu up there. That's about all I can think of, without just making both menus like the drop downs we have currently.

Exactly. One dropdown is enough, but it can't be the main menu like now; it's too easy to overlook it and too cumbersome to click it every time.

Well there's that, but you could also have it pop up on hover, but that could introduce a few annoyances for people who move the mouse a lot. *shrugs*

Yeah, I'd prefer it on hover actually, like Miksago's redesign. And sure, you can't always please everyone...

Well it's either on hover, or not at all, and I'm sure spot wants the various aspects of the site to be easily accessible. The problem lies however, in the fact that we're always adding more things, and to add another button to that bar may be a bit iffy concerning balance problems...
