I know. I wonder what it would look like if it was applied to something less grimy. It looks great for indoor and dark apocalyptic environments, but not so well with sunshine and natural lighting.

Yep, the darker ones are more impressive. But the engine performs just as well with daylight (see Onyx Coast eg). All they do is maybe add a bit too much of ambient fog which makes daylight scenes apear a bit too pale.
